Recently, the No.1 main transformer of the CMEC-undertaken Al Dhafra PV2 project in the United Arab Emirates successfully completed the overall sliding in place, creating favorable conditions for the subsequent installation of electrical equipment and laying a solid foundation for auxiliary electrification.

The Al Dhafra PV2 solar power station is by far the largest single solar power station in the world, with a total installed capacity of 2.1 GW. It will be a milestone EPC project in the field of green energy under China’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), and also a demonstration and benchmark project in the world’s solar power field.
Almost at the same time, Unit 1 of the 650MW combined cycle power station expansion project in Basra, Iraq, which was undertaken by CMEC, successfully completed the performance test. During the test, each system of the unit ran smoothly and the main operating parameters proved excellent. Successful completion of the test has laid a solid foundation for the formal handover of Unit 1 of this project.

Iraq is a key BRI-participating country. This combined cycle power station expansion project is located about 10 kilometers south of Basra International Airport in the south of Iraq. After the project is completed, the power station will effectively alleviate the power shortage in southern Iraq and improve the quality of life of local residents.
